Today it took me less than 15-minutes to write an appreciation card and prepare it for the mail.
Previously, I often associated the importance of my work with how long and complex the project was. Just recently I did a research project for a non-profit organization and it took about 40 hours to complete.
So I sometimes find it difficult to appreciate this undertaking. Writing a card seems too quick and easy to have significant value.
But I keep doing this because I know how good it feels when someone else really sees you and values who you are. And I think we all want to be acknowledged and valued for who we are.
I see these cards as seeds containing love. Each time I write and send a card I plant a seed in someone’s heart. I have faith that these seeds can create something good in the world.
I can’t think of many better ways to use 15-minutes.
